So, I got all kinds of crazy and ran this race over the weekend called the Wasatch Back which is part of the Ragnar Relay series. It is a 197 mile relay which you run until you finish. We had a team of 12, which meant I ran 3 legs. It was crazy hard, and I had some of the easier legs.

Seriously, only crazy people run that far. So as I was running my final leg, it hit me. Running the Ragnar is a lot like Childbirth. Here are 10 reasons why:

1. After finishing, when asked if you will do it again, the answer is always “No”.

2. In the midst of it, you wonder out loud “What was I thinking?”

3. At the end, you get to hold something shiny that you would never give back in a million years.

4. You have war wounds to prove you did it.

5. People cheer you on, sometimes they are even total strangers.

6. By the end, you don’t care how ugly and smelly you are.

7. The views are beautiful.

8. A few months (or days) later, when someone asks if you would do it again, you actually hesitate and say, “Maybe.”

9. It’s a right of passage.

10. The exhaustion is mind-numbing.

At some point, I will even share pictures, but I don’t have them on hand just yet. For now, you will just have to imagine me all gross and smelly and sleep deprived. Good times, people, good times.
