An hour in a day
2012
I couldn’t sleep Sunday night thinking of all the things I had left undone. I resolved to wake up early so I could get them done and still have time to go to the gym so I could attempt to train for my race.
6:15 a.m. I am awake and afraid I overslept my alarm. Upon seeing that I had 15 minutes left, I turned off the alarm and drifted back to sleep. At 6:40, I woke up again. The house was quiet and I was determined to be productive.
I rubbed my bleary eyes awake and went downstairs and began by putting the day-before’s breakfast away. I wiped down counter tops, and put away groceries from three days previous. Then I took out the trash and emptied the dishwasher.
At 7 a.m. sharp, two of my kids came downstairs. Now, if I had still been sleeping, no one would be awake. But apparently these little animals sense any attempt at productivity. The next 20 minutes are filled with washing dishes, admonishing children to be quiet so others can sleep, wiping down more counter tops and finally putting a load of laundry in the dryer.
7:25 and it is car pool time, during which I torture five 12 year old boys with my favorite morning radio show. I laugh at the DJ’s, I’m sure it mortifies my son. I survive the carpool lane at the junior high relatively unscathed, only mildly annoyed at the car stopped in front of me so his daughter can show her friend her new puppy. And then it’s home and listening to the 7:40 challenge and wondering if I should call in and be the lucky winner, only to be glad I didn’t because I didn’t know any of the answers today.
I pull into the driveway at 7:40 and sit for a minute before I tackle the rest of the day.

Today, I am introducing a new linkup. Starting next Tuesday, come and link up an hour from your day. It could be a list, it could be chaos or a sweet moment, or it could be an hour in pictures. Pretty much anything that represents an hour out of your day. I am really excited about this and I hope you’ll play along!

Sounds like fun Stacey! Immediately I thought 3-4 am, the only time of day I get to pee with the door shut, but that’s the only exciting part of that hour. Alas, I’ll have to think of a better time span!

How exciting! Truly a great idea. Can’t wait to participate. I only wish I’d be more experienced in copying and pasting the link up. I always have trouble with those kinds of things.
